Of all my art on FAA, I'm glad to know that this was the one sold to a collector in Lewisburg, Pa. today. It may not technically be my best painting, but, it delivers the best message. Thank you, Lewisburg!

Artist's Description

1913-2005 In 1955, s 42 yr. old seamstress from Montgomery. Al. took an empty seat near the "colored section" of the bus, exhausted from sewing all day at a dept. store. City ordinance required blacks not only to be barred from the front of the bus, but that they relinquish their seats in the middle of the bus to any whites left standing. As the front of the bus filled up, the driver ordered Rosa to give up her seat to a white man. When she refused, she was arrested and the rest is history. Ride on, Rosa...ride on!

About PJ Lewis

PJ Lewis

I am a former Hollywood make up artist. My long career in make up & fashion display is evident in my work I'm told. Making women beautiful (on & off paper) has always fascinated me. I enjoy abstract now as well. One of my favorite things to do is look at other artists work. I recently moved to a small town in Alabama called Opp but I remain involved in the Panama City Beach art community. I started a group here on FAA called SHE HAS STYLE and, so far we have some amazing pieces! Enjoy! Also, I'd be honored if you decide to "follow" me on FAA.
